IR 64 Rice
IR64 is a widely cultivated, long-grain, non-basmati rice variety, known for its high yield, early maturity, and good cooking quality, often parboiled and popular in India and other rice-growing regions. IR64 exhibits resistance to several pests and diseases, including brown planthopper, bacterial blight, and grassy stunt virus. IR64 has a desirable combination of intermediate amylose content, soft gel consistency, and intermediate gelatinization temperature, resulting in excellent cooking quality. The average shelf life of IR 64 rice variety is roughly between 12 to 24 months.
